I. There is a problem in society today. That problem is that the government has the ability to perform wiretaps on citizens, perform unreasonable searches, monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity and jail Americans indefinitely without a trial. All of this power the government has violates several amendments of the U.S. constitution, many that were part of the Bill of Rights. The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. These rights are being violated and there needs to be a solution.
II. Facts that demonstrate that there is a problem are:

According to USA Patriot Act article, a section of the act allows the use of "sneak and peek" warrants, which let the FBI search a suspect's business or residence without immediate notification.
The Act also unfairly target immigrants. The attorney general has the ability to "certify" that the government has "resonable grounds to believe that an alien is a terrorist or is engaged in activity that endagers the national security of the U.S.
